How do you sound by the end of the day?
Is your voice Scratchy? Tired? Raspy? Hoarse? Weak? Can barely get the words out?
The average person spends an approximately 6-7 hours a day talking. Talking to family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, clients, customers, the dog. Some of us talk a lot more than that! No wonder our voices sound weak and tired by the end of the day.
Singers and actors are concerned with maintaining vocal health and vitality. Their entire careers depend on being able to perform at their best for every performance.
A singer who cannot hit the notes that once were easy, or an actor whose voice sounds harsh or shrill instead of full and resonant, can mean cancelled shows, failed auditions, lost revenues and disappearing fans.
Many professionals also rely on using their voice to communicate with clients, customers, peers, vendors, employers, employees or students. They need to sound strong, dynamic, and effective.
What happens if they cannot "perform?" What happens to their income when they can no longer speak effectively? What happens when they lose their voice and cannot make that sale or discuss a case, market their product or deliver that presentation? What happens when they have to take a day off from work because they lost their voice?
Do you depend on your speaking ability for your livelihood or career?
How important is it for you to speak clearly and effectively on your job?
How much time does a real estate agent, for example, spend talking to clients, buyers and sellers, and then to mortgage brokers, home inspectors, home stagers, other agents, etc. No wonder sales professionals find themselves tired of talking at the end of the day. It’s often hard, if not impossible, to make that one last phone call! and that might be the call that makes the sale!
